There was a clear mandate from those gathered at the Women's meeting last
month that we should field 1-3 teams to go to the Rig Run in Santa Barbara
this May. I think this is a worthy goal which will give us the experience of
paddling in big swells with very strong competition. Plus this is a fun race
with a great party atmosphere.Towards this end, we need to now define who
will be going and what our goals will be.
The coaches will need to hear from all interested parties before the end of
this month by filling in the appropriate box in the spreadsheet posted in
the clubhouse. By checking the box you are committing to:

1) Having the time off and the funding to make the trip.
2) Coming to practice AT LEAST twice weekly in preparation for the race.
3) Being a team player on the crew for which you are selected.

Remember we count on each other to make these ventures a success.

Santa Barbara is a beautiful place and expensive. Laura has been doing a lot
of number crunching and will be sending out an email giving us some idea of
what types of costs to expect. She had the foresight to reserve plenty of
cheap (by SB standards) hotel rooms months ago, so this will be SUPER
helpful.

The gist of this email is to communicate a need for everyone to assess their
situation and get back to the coaches with a Yea or Nay in the next couple
of weeks.
This could be a blast!
